After a dominating win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, what’s the highest seed the Bears can get in the playoffs?
What an incredibly up-and-down year 2020 has been for the Chicago Bears. After starting off the season 5-1 somehow, Chicago sputtered, with its quarterback play continuing to keep head coach Matt Nagy up at night.
However, the team has caught fire late in the season and just steamrolled the Jaguars in Week 16 in a huge 41-17 victory. Now, Chicago is ready to shut up all of its haters and potentially go on a deep postseason run, which would of course stun plenty of folks out there. So, what’s the best seed they can get?
The Chicago Bears will look to stun countless folks out there should they go on a deep postseason run
Following the Week 16 win, the best seed Chicago can bring home is the No. 7 spot. They’re now 8-7 on the year and will take on the Packers in a huge Week 17 game next weekend. It will of course be a massive game for Green Bay too, as Aaron Rodgers and Co. are 11-3 as of this writing and are hoping to keep the No. 1 seed in the NFC.
In order for the Bears to win in Week 17 and then win in the Wild Card Round, there’s no denying they’ll need Mitchell Trubisky to step his game up in a big way. On Sunday, the former first-round pick threw for 265 yards and two touchdowns. However, he also tossed one of the worst interceptions you’re going to see this year, trying to complete a touchdown pass in quadruple coverage.
For now, the Bears have kept their season alive with some impressive wins late in the season. As exciting as that is, they’ll need to clean plenty of things up on both sides of the ball if they want to record any upset wins next month.
