Cleveland Indians slugger Jose Ramirez had himself a monster day for the club, highlighted by the game-winning two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Have yourself a day, Jose Ramirez. On Wednesday afternoon, the stud slugger came up huge for the Cleveland Indians. Ramirez ended up leaving the ballpark twice against the Kansas City Royals, with his second dinger of the day coming in the most timely of fashions.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, the Indians and Royals were all even at 2-2. With a runner on first and Ramirez at the dish, Cleveland fans were hoping he’d come up with a big hit to potentially advance the runner. Well, Ramirez went ahead and did them one better.

Jose Ramirez drilled a 2-run homer to give Cleveland a win over the Royals
Ramirez, who went yard in the bottom of the sixth inning as well, got a ball right in his wheelhouse and made Kansas City pay in the worst way possible for them. What in the world was Greg Holland thinking sending that kind of a delivery against Ramirez?
It was a much-needed win for Cleveland, as they entered Wednesday’s showdown with a 1-3 record. With things close and the team potentially facing a 1-4 start to the campaign, Ramirez stepped up big time and recorded a blast that led to the limited capacity on hand to erupt in celebration.
On the year, Ramirez is now hitting .350, with his two home runs and four RBI. Should Cleveland go on a run to potentially win the AL Central this season, there’s no doubt whatsoever that the third baseman will end up playing a monster role in making that happen. Wednesday was another reminder of just how talented he is for the Indians.
