Twitter lost their minds when Rafael Alves missed weight by 11.5 pounds.
It’s not often you see a fighter miss weight for two weight divisions at the same time but that’s exactly what Rafael Alves did on Friday when he stepped on the scales for his UFC Vegas 19 fight. Alves blew right past the lightweight 156-pound limit when he settled on 157.5 pounds … the only problem was he was scheduled to fight at featherweight which is 146 pounds.
At press time the fight had not been canceled but it would be shocking if the commission allowed it with that big of a weight discrepency. In fact, it’s the biggest in UFC history with the prior record being held by Anthony Johnson at 197 for a middleweight bout (11-pound difference).
Of course, the MMA community was not going to take the bonkers of a moment go without a bit of discussion via Twitter. Here are some of the best tweets.

The ironic part about Rafael Alves missing weight by 11 lbs is he had a full camp whereas his opponent Sabatini took this fight on a week notice and made weight. #UFCVegas19

Rafael Alves missed weight for featherweight so bad he deadass still would have come in overweight if the fight was a lightweight. Really gotta respect that level of not giving a fuck. 😂 #UFCVegas19
