Who is the Ultimate Fighter Season 29 bantamweight, Mitch Raposo?
When Alex Volkanovski and Brian Ortega face-off as judges on season 29 of The Ultimate Fighter, they’ll have a plethora of talent to choose from when assembling their teams. During UFC Vegas 24’s broadcast, the promotion released the official TUF 29 roster which boasts eight middleweight fighters and eight bantamweights.
Of those eight 135 pound UFC hopefuls, three of them are undefeated – coincidentally, all three undefeated fighters are 5-0. One of those contestants is Mitch Raposo of Fall River, Mass. At 22 years old, Raposo is one of the youngest and most impressive fighters on TUF‘s bantamweight roster.
Raposo, who wrestled for his hometown Durfee High School, primarily trains out of Regiment Training Center in Massachusetts. In the past, he’s sparred with notable UFC names such as Calvin Kattar and Rob Font, and one of his teammates, Yorgan De Castro, is currently signed to the UFC.
What can fans expect from Raposo on this season of TUF?
An undefeated prospect with a wrestling pedigree, Raposo is sharp in all facets of his game. His two most recent wins came by unanimous decision but he also has a KO victory and two first-round submission stoppages. He fought the first four bouts of his professional career with Cage Titans before his most recent bout with Classic Entertainment & Sports MMA in Lincoln, R.I.
To go along with his 5-0 professional record, Raposo was also a perfect 5-0 as an amateur from 2017-2018. At 18 years old, he had amateur unanimous decision victories in the AMMO Fight League and Cage Titans.
Four of Raposo’s professional victories were fought at 135 pounds though he competed most recently at 130 pounds. He was scheduled to face the also undefeated Pololu Nakanelua at Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA) 101 on March 13, 2021, at 125 pounds but the fight was called off.
Now, it appears Raposo’s sights are set solely on breaking into the UFC’s bantamweight division. Keep an eye on the undefeated fighter from Fall River, Mass. as season 29 of TUF gets underway.
