Who is The Ultimate Fighter 29 middleweight competitor Kemran Lachinov?
Kemran Lacinov is a 30-year-old middleweight grappler fighting out of Springfield, Massachusetts. Nicknamed “Killer Kem” he currently holds a professional record of 10-2. Lachinov was an active competitor with Bellator MMA from 2015 until his final fight for the promotion in December of 2020 as part of Bellator 254 where he fell to Shamil Nikaev via judges decision as part of the main card. His first loss since 2016 brought his overall record with the promotion to an impressive 5-1.
Lachinov should have a distinct advantage going into the high-stress world of The Ultimate Fighter since he has already had success in front of television cameras and large crowds as part of Bellator. Another bonus for Lacinov will certainly be his gas tank and ability to take his opponents the distance in a fight, five of his ten wins have come by way of judges’ decision.
He is a mature fighter who is comfortable working his game plan and allowing his opponents to make mistakes and lose the fight for themselves. He also has stopping power, however, with three of his remaining five wins coming by way of knockouts or submissions due to strikes. His remaining two victories came by way of submissions late in the rounds.
It will be interesting to see how Lachinov handles living and working with several young fighters near the beginning of their careers while he, presumably, operates as a mature voice in the house. Whether he will carry himself as someone who has had those kinds of opportunities before or if the pressure of finally having a chance at the UFC, the pinnacle of MMA will weigh on his mind.
The Ultimate Fighter will begin airing on June 1 and can be watched on ESPN+. Please follow along with FanSided MMA for all your live news and highlights.
