The Bears will want to keep a close eye on several teams Sunday that could help their chances of winning in Week 17.
The Chicago Bears control their own destiny in the NFC playoff race after picking up a dominant victory Sunday in Jacksonville. The Bears now sit in the No. 7 spot thanks to the Arizona Cardinals failing to show up Saturday in their loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
But a win in Week 17 is going to be difficult as Chicago is set to take on Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. One way that matchup could become easier is if the Packers clinch the No. 1 seed and only bye in the NFC tonight against the Tennessee Titans.
So who should the Bears be rooting for the rest of the day?
Bears have an eye on a few teams, including a bitter rival
The first game with rooting interests for the Bears is in action Sunday afternoon. Chicago fans will want the Los Angeles Rams to beat the Seattle Seahawks and put both teams at 10-5. Why? Because this result would allow the Packers to clinch the No. 1 seed with a victory in primetime.
A Seahawks win doesn’t allow for that in Week 16 and means the Packers will show up to win in Week 17.
If the Seahawks do pull it out, the Bears will then have to take on the painful task of rooting for a Packers win against the Titans. That happening would mean the Packers secure the top spot in the conference and likely rest a ton of starters next week in Chicago.
The Packers have already beaten the Bears once this season by the score of 41-25. If they are playing for a No. 1 seed next week, Chicago may need to pull off a minor miracle to win.
A Rams victory over Seattle also means they are in the NFC West race with a matchup against the Cardinals in Week 17.
To keep track, the Bears want a Rams victory and a Packers win. That sounds simple enough, but it has been a crazy season so fans may have a stressful night after a win.
