The European Super League was a tough concept from the start, and now it’s falling apart before out very eyes.
With players and fans seemingly against the concept ever since it was announced over the weekend, the European Super League appears to be dying a slow, painful death. The Super League, which was meant as a competition to rival some of the domestic leagues and Champions League, would pit some of the best teams in Europe against one another.
Yet, under pressure from players and fans — including Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp — the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Atletico Madrid are backing out.
I understand Chelsea are now preparing documentation to request withdrawing from the ESL

It's not just the English teams rapidly pulling out… senior sources at Atletico Madrid tell me they are OUT, too.

Soccer fans are happy the European Super League is falling apart
“People are not happy with it, I can understand that,” Klopp told Sky Sports over the weekend. “But I cannot say a lot more about it to be honest because we were not involved in any process, not the players, not me, we didn’t know about it … we will have to wait (and see) how it develops.”
Fans around Europe and the United States are excited the Super League may be no more.
Imagine being a team that hasn't announced pulling out of the Super League yet.

I don't think Florentino Pérez can remain as Real Madrid's President if the Super League falls apart.

Stan Kroenke and Joel Glazer’s greed could land them in a worst of all worlds situation where there’s now no ambiguity about their motivations, the Super League is dead in the water, and a fan-led review by government concludes they’ve got to hand 50% of their club to the fans!🤞🏼

While owners would always prefer more money in their pockets, this remains more proof that they ought to consult their own players and supporters before making such a drastic move. For now, the Super League appears to be on the outs.
