Director James Mangold is set to take over the directing role from Steven Spielberg, who is still serving as a producer and is “very much involved” in various elements of the film.
“I’m thrilled to be starting a new adventure, collaborating with a dream team of all-time great filmmakers…when you add Phoebe, a dazzling actor, brilliant creative voice and the chemistry she will undoubtedly bring to our set, I can’t help but feel as lucky as Indiana Jones himself,” the director said in a statement.
John Williams, who has worked on every score in the franchise including the iconic theme song, will also return as composer.
The plan is to begin production this summer. Plot details are still being kept under wraps, as well as details regarding Phoebe Waller-Bridge‘s role.
The film is set to hit theaters on July 29, 2022.
