Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields will play in the National Championship Game vs. Alabama after sustaining a rib injury vs. Clemson in the Sugar Bowl.
When Justin Fields overcame a rib injury to send the Ohio State Buckeyes to the national championship, it was a story of heroic proportions. After Fields provided an update on his condition following the game, head coach Ryan Day announced on Monday that Fields should be ready to play on Jan. 11 against Alabama.
This is good news for Buckeyes fans who are seeking their second national championship in the College Football era, their first coming in 2015 after ironically, eliminating Alabama in the semi-finals before claiming victory over Oregon.
As for Fields, he is now faced with the task of going up against one of college football’s more elite programs. All while having to deal with a lingering injury. Nonetheless, his presence is a sign of positivity for Buckeyes fans.
Ryan Day says he expects Justin Fields to play against Alabama but will not reveal his specific injury details.

Justin Fields will play through any pain for a chance at a title
When Fields was taken out for a single play, backup C.J. Stroud replaced him, handing off to prolific running back Trey Sermon before Fields returned for the rest of the game. Had Fields not been able to play, there is the likelihood that Stroud would have been the starter for Buckeyes in the National Championship Game.
Instead, Fields will be taking the field with his team. Thankfully, he has a strong arsenal around him that will allow him to perform well against an Alabama team that is currently favored by seven points, according to the latest odds.
With Fields in the lineup, Ohio State has a real good shot to win the national championship.
