For the Chicago Bears, all eyes will be on Mitchell Trubisky on Sunday to see if he can power the team to an upset win.
Just when Chicago Bears fans everywhere were ready to write off Mitchell Trubisky, the young quarterback has been able to bounce back and has the team ready to try and upset the New Orleans Saints this weekend.
In what will surely be a tough Wild Card Round showdown against New Orleans (which are big favorites) Trubisky will look to stun the NFL world and win his matchup with Drew Brees. Should the Bears get the job done, Trubisky could end up landing himself a new contract in the process.
Chicago may have to give Mitchell Trubisky a new contract if he upsets the Saints
It’s certainly been a rollercoaster ride of a campaign for Trubisky. He won the starting job over Nick Foles but ended up getting benched later in the season. After Foles’ struggled, the Bears went back to Trubisky and he was able to remind folks as to why he’s a former first-round pick.
On the year, the 6-foot-2, 220-pounder threw for 2,055 yards, 16 touchdowns and eight interceptions in 10 games. Those stats of course won’t bring him home MVP honors, but he did more than enough to help the Bears get to the postseason.
Now, it’ll be on him to lead the offense against the Saints and put Chicago in a position to come out on top. It definitely won’t be an easy task, as New Orleans is firing on all cylinders right now. However, should there be an upset, Trubisky may have won himself the starting job for the long haul and the Bears could end up giving him a new deal too. Stay tuned to see what happens.
