Jim Harbaugh is getting a contract extension from the Michigan Wolverines here very soon.
For a guy who has yet to develop a single quarterback at his alma mater since 2015 or win the Big Ten East once, Harbaugh has convinced the University of Michigan he is worth more than every penny. If this is Michigan’s counter to the Texas Longhorns firing Tom Herman, only to replace him with Steve Sarkisian in the same news cycle, are we sure we can classify this as well-played?
Is Michigan handing out free money to ring in the new year or what?
Michigan did not win a game in The Big House this season, but that did not stop the university thinking about giving Harbaugh more money to wear khakis and grasp his kneecaps, as he succumbs to yet another defeat at the hands of the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Penn State Nittany Lions or the Michigan Wolverines.

If Michigan extends Jim Harbaugh no one is allowed to call Ohio State-Michigan a rivalry anymore https://t.co/6AMrvKFrUI

Not only are the Buckeyes going to the national championship game, but the head coach of their “rival” who cannot beat them is getting paid more money to keep on not getting it done in Big Ten country.
In what alternate reality has Jim Harbaugh earned an extension thru 2026 and how many drugs do I need to take to get there?

You rarely hear about everybody else’s struggles against them tho.

In truth, this move was expected. There is probably an easy buyout provision that will help both parties get out of the deal if they ever wanted to. Harbaugh could eventually return to the NFL, depending on if the right head-coaching vacancy opens up. Then again, he can be the first Michigan head coach to lose his first 12 games to Ohio State in his illustrious coaching career.
Nothing I’ve seen over the last 6 years & more so nothing recently gives me any hope that Harbaugh is the right man for the job going forward. However it is what it is & he’s the coach. With that said, the Soup Train has been derailed
Here’s to hoping Harbs can turn it around 🙏🏻

Contract lengths don't really mean anything in college football, but I'm confident Ohio State fans would gladly sign up for six more years of Jim Harbaugh at Michigan. https://t.co/FKnvhscz2x

While there are those who hope this deal will work out for Michigan, this is more likely to blow up in everyone’s face with a glorified, “I told you so.” Though the Wolverines are no longer a total grease fire under Harbaugh, he has yet to show us he can take the Michigan program to the next level. He will have six more years to think about maybe winning a division title in Ann Arbor.
Will it be more of the same under Harbaugh though 2026 or will the next six years be different?
