Collin Sexton and Darius Garland have been lighting up the scoreboard with the Cavs this year
Sexton is blossoming now that he can take over shooting guard responsibilities and John Beilein isn’t restricting him, as evidenced by his 27.0 points per game on 59 percent shooting. Garland, the second-year man out of Vanderbilt that has officially become the team’s point guard, has become both an above-average scorer (19.0 points per game) and masterful distributor (8.3 assists per game).
The injury to Kevin Love could be a major roadblock for these two, as him and Andre Drummond have both put together some solid performances inside. However, given how red hot these two perfect complementary pieces have been this season, they could carry the Cavs to a few more tough wins in this difficult period.
Even after this hot start, Cleveland is likely a year or two away from truly being capable of making it to the postseason. Despite that, the Cavs have some energy for the first time since LeBron James left, and Sexland might end up being a sustainable winner in the near future if both of these studs keep adding to their games.
