We got some free basketball in New Orleans on Sunday thanks to a brilliant floater from Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum.
When the Boston Celtics are in need of a big shot, who do you think they’re going to go to? Of course the answer is Jayson Tatum. The young superstar continues to make clutch plays for this team, with Boston fans witnessing it once more on Sunday against the New Orleans Pelicans.
With Boston down 108-106 and only a few seconds left on the clock, Tatum grabbed the rock, drove the lane and fired up a floater with all the confidence in the world. The result?
Jayson Tatum sent the Celtics-Pelicans game into overtime with a huge shot
Thanks to Tatum, this showdown went into overtime. His floater hit the bottom of the net with 0.2 seconds left on the clock. As you might imagine, the Boston bench exploded in celebration following Tatum’s huge play. The man simply has ice in his veins.
Even better, his game-tying floater followed a clutch 3-point play from Zion Williamson:
As a result of Tatum’s clutch bucket, the Celtics forced overtime. Unfortunately for Tatum and the Celtics, the Pelicans went on to be the better team in the extra session, leaving the stadium with a tough-earned 120-115 victory.
In the loss, Tatum was nothing short of sensational, as he scored 32 points and added 9 rebounds to lead the way for the team. On the campaign, Tatum is averaging 25.8 points and 7.0 rebounds per contest. Zion, meanwhile, finished with 28 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists, while Brandon Ingram led the Pels with 33 points and 6 boards.
Boston is 15-15 on the year following Sunday’s loss and sits in fifth place of the Eastern Conference standings. Look for Tatum to keep balling out and making strong plays for his team, especially whenever Boston is looking at him to deliver. He’ll be ready to get things done.
