This is a long quest, so naturally there are some requirements to look into beforehand.
Garden of Tranquillity OSRS Quest Requirements
You are going to need to have level 25 Farming, and have completed the Creature of Fenkenstrain, Priest in Peril, and The Restless Ghost quests. There are several items that you will need, including a Ring of Charos, all tools used by tool leprechauns, two plant cures, a marigold seed and at least 3 cabbage and onion seeds. Then there’s a hammer, rune essence, a filled plant pot, a pestle and mortar, and two ulatracompost.
Garden of Tranquillity OSRS Step-by-Step Guide
The Garden of Tranquillity in OSRS will start in the kitchen of Varrock Palace, so head then then go to the east, then south to the garden where you will find Queen Ellamaria. You will then be handed a list of what she needs. You will need farming equipment including a rake, a seed dibber, a watering can, a gardening trowel, a spade, and Secateurs.
Enchanting the Ring
Next, take the ring of charos you have and go to Draynor Village to talk to the wise old man. Here you will be told the story about Queen Ellamaria prior to her marriage to King Roald, and where the Ring of Charos came from. You will then be asked seven questions to see if you are worthy of activating the ring. The answer to the first question is “Show them a range of colours so that they can come to a compromise.” Answer two is “Take his generous gift even though you have no need for it.” The third answer is “It’s absolutely, unquestionably the most interesting thing I’ve ever done!” followed by “Put on the silly helmet and jump in the cannon.” The fifth answer is “You of course Pkmaster0036, no one could ever challenge your greatness!” Then answer to question six is “Ask me nicely and I might consider it.” The final answer is “No, especially not that wise old man, who doesn’t look at all suspicious.”
Once you have answered all of the questions correctly, the wise old man will enchant the ring of charos, then give it back to you. You now need to wear the ring with the dialogue option of “Charm” in order to use on the NPCs that the queen has asked you to search for.
Gathering the Seeds with Charm
Head to the farming patch located between Fenkenstrain’s Castle and Port Phasmatys and wear the Ring of Charos. At the allotments, talk to Lyra and ask if she has any orchid seeds to spare. Here is where you will need to start using the charm options in the dialogue that you have with her. This will lead to you using the following phrases; “If you tell me your problems, I may be able to help you” / ”Yes, I was wondering about that.” / “Whatever you’ve done, I’m sure you had just cause.” / “And what is the nature of this fee you pay?” / “If not yours, then whose blood are you offering?” / “How can you deal with so much guilt?” When you get to the final option, agree to grow the onions in the allotment nearby, which will take 40 minutes, so you can move on an come back if you wish.
After they have grown, speak to Lyra to get three yellow orchid seeds and three pink orchid seeds. Next, we are heading to East Ardougne to the farming patch in the north. Go to the allotments and speak to Kragen and ask if he has any snowdrop seeds spare. Once again, you will have to use the charm options to get the desired results.
There are five charm options to choose, which include “You seem to be a little irritable, my friend.” / “I don’t like to see a fellow human being so upset.” / “So what ails you, my friend?” / “Well is there anything I can do for you?” / “So what can I do for you?” When it gets to the final option, again avoid the charm option and just agree to let him know when the cabbages are ready.
Go to the nearby allotment patch and as with the onions, they will take 40 minutes to grow, so its advised you move on with the rest of the quest. Speak to Kragen when they are done to get four snowdrop seeds.
Next stop is the farming patch between Falador and Draynor Village. Put the Ring of Charos on once more and talk to Elstan to see if there are any spare Delphinium seeds. Choose the charm responses until you are requested to plant marigolds. The charm options mainly revolve around referring to Elstan being an expert and that you want to hear some gardening stories. Once you get to the last question, once again avoid the charm option to agree to plant the marigolds. These take slightly less time at 20 minutes, so move onto the next segment of the quest. Once you have harvested the marigolds, exchange them for delphinium seeds.
Next, head to Catherby farming patch and speak to Dantaera. Ask how to grow a white tree then charm her. Use the options “I think that there is something that you are not telling me.” / “A secret is a dreadful burden to have to keep to yourself.” / “Unless you allow me to do this she will die anyway.”
This will see Dantaera cutting a branch from the white tree, found on top of the Ice Mountain to the west of Edgeville. Once you’re done talking, you will need a filled plant pot along with Secateurs, plus a watering can with water and a gardening trowel. Use the Secateurs on the tree, which will give you a white tree shoot. Use this on the plant pot with soil then water it to grow the branch into a sapling.
Your next destination is the garden to the north of the Edgeville Monastery, and talk to Brother Althric with the Ring of Charos being equipped. Use the charm option that says “These are the most beautiful rosebushes I’ve ever seen.” He will respond by saying you are wearing an evil talisman and ask that you throw the Ring of Charos in the well in Edgeville, so do so. You can get it back later using a fishing rod.
Once you have thrown the ring away, you can try and get the seeds again, with Brother Althric happy to hand them over this time, giving you the rose seeds.
Go to Burthorpe
Our next stop in Burthorpe, more specifically The Toad and Chicken pub. Here you need to enter the garden to the east and charm Bernald. You will be told that he needs a cure for his perishing vines. You can try and use a plant cure but it won’t work, and you will be told to head to Taverley to speak with Alain.
Go to the tree patch to the south to find Alain. He will offer a method of how to improve the power of the plant cure, but don’t worry you won’t need to charm him. Next, use a hammer on a rune/pure essence to give yourself Rune Shards, and then use the pestle and mortar to make Rune Dust. Use this dust on the plant cure potion and you will receive a strengthened version.
Take them back to the dying vines to cure them, after which you will be given some vine seeds for your troubles.
Go and speak to Ellamaria, and enquire about the statues. You will be given a trolley to transport them. You will have the option to either push or pull the trolley once you have a statue, with the option of a “Big push” to move the trolley even further.
Your first statue is in Lumbridge, so get there and head out of the castle and check out the statues. The statue that is described as King is the one you want, so use your trolley on it then transport it over the bridge outside of the castle. Keep pushing east then south to get it to the Queen’s garden. Place it in the slot to the east and use the “place” prompt on the statue.
The second statue is in Falador, and head to the city square and use your trolley on the statue. This will prompt a cutscene to start in which two guards known as Billy and Bob are killed by a spoof known as PKMaster0036, as you attempt to get the statue on the trolley.
Once the cutscene has finished, you need to get the statue out of there as fast as you can before the guards catch on. After you leave Falador, you will find yourself outside of Varrock Palace, so head east and south again to Ellamaria’s garden. This time, put the statue in the middle slot and use the “place” option once again to put it there.
Check out the farming patches and take your rake over to them. Get rid of any weeds then plant the seeds in the rightful places. You are going to need to make sure you add compost in the orchid pots before planting. This process takes around 15 minutes, and you need to water the White Tree so it can be planted. Once all the patches have grown fully and you have placed the statues, you can go and speak to Ellamaria. You will be asked to go and get King Roald, so head south-east to the king on the ground floor of the place.
You will need to have retrieved your Ring of Charos, then charm him when the option arises. This will start a cutscene in which the Queen will start giving me a tour. Make sure that you don’t open anything such as interfaces whilst the cutscene is playing out, and don’t walk away either. This would mean that you have to replay the whole process of fetching the king again, which of course you will want to be avoiding where possible.
Another cutscene will then play out, and the queen will reward you for all of your hard work. The Garden of Tranquillity OSRS quest will now be completed, and your journey is finally over.
Garden of Tranquillity OSRS Quest Rewards
First of all, congratulations on completing the quest! For all of your hard work, you will receive 2 Quest points, as well as 5,000 Farming XP. You now have an activated Ring of Charos too, which you can wear to use the charm ability on many NPCs throughout. This can help you in certain situations where you may want to pay less, or take advantage of particular options that wouldn’t be there without the ring.
Also with the rewards will be an Apple tree seed, plus an Acorn, 5 Guam Seeds, and 4-dose Compost Potion, which you can use on a full compost bin that turns it into supercompost. Once you have completed the quest, you can visit the garden and pick up 4 fruits from the White Tree that was planted. You will be able to gather more as it regrows after time.
As far as your future questing goes, the Garden of Tranquillity quest is required for completing both Swan Song and the medium Varrock Diary. The latter tasks you with picking a White Tree fruit, so wait a few minutes after the quest has finished so the fruit has time to respawn.
There you have it. You have finally overcome the Garden of Tranquillity quest in OSRS. It may be a lengthy task, but it has some decent rewards that will help you out in future adventures, as well as giving you access to new quests now that you have finished it. The Ring of Charos in particular is a great find once its powered, and can save you a lot of gold as well as other helpful options in the future.
