The Florida State football program impressed the top wide receiver prospect for 2023.
After seeing what the Florida State football team was all about during the Seminoles’ spring game, top wide receiver prospect Brandon Inniss could see himself playing in Tallahassee.
“The experience was nice. I saw a lot of things I like, a lot of throwing from the offense,” said Inniss to 247Sports. “They looked good, but they can get better. I liked how No. 3 [Bryan Robinson] and No. 22 [Ja’Khi Douglas] played.”
“Florida State stands pretty high with me, it’s one of my dream schools growing up. I watched FSU a lot growing up and the coaches keep in contact, that’s a big thing.”
“I wanted to check out the FSU atmosphere, just walking around, seeing all the people and looking at the stadium, imagining myself playing here, it was just a great feeling.”
“They contact me a lot. Coach Dugans is on me every week, coach Levi is on me every week and they get me on the phone with coach Norvell. FSU is doing pretty good right now.”
According to the 247Sports Composite, Inniss is the No. 1 wide receiver in his class, the No. 2 overall player from Florida and the No. 7 overall prospect nationally for 2023. While he has 32 official offers, it is still too early in the process to see Inniss leaning in any particular direction. With that in mind, he came away very impressed by what Mike Norvell and his staff are doing at FSU.
Here is a bit of what Inniss could do for Florida State should he sign with the Seminoles for 2023.
Brandon Inniss would be a home run get for Mike Norvell, Florida State
Even though Florida State struggled in Norvell’s first season in Tallahassee, he does have a proven track record for success at Memphis. He is a former wide receiver himself and does a phenomenal job of developing skill-position players. While he has to prove that he can lead a Power 5 blue-blood like Florida State sooner rather than later, this is a program that won’t be down for long.
What is important here is Inniss said he grew up watching a lot of Florida State games. This was a program that dominated the ACC under Jimbo Fisher and Bobby Bowden before that. If Florida State gets the right head coach, it will make things difficult for Clemson to continue to have a stranglehold on the Power 5 conference. It is early, but Inniss could wind up at Florida State.
It may have only been a spring game, but it left a lasting impression on a five-star wide receiver.
