Bryce Mitchell’s viral used car commercial wins the FanSided MMA Awards for the funniest moment of 2020.
Bryce Mitchell had a great 2020. The UFC featherweight won both of his fights to move into the UFC rankings for the first time in his career. However, Mitchell’s greatest moment of 2020 came when starred in an amazingly terrible commercial for Arkansas used car dealership Drive on Time Motors Inc. The video is absolutely hilarious and was an easy choice to win the FanSided MMA Awards for the funniest moment of 2020.
The commercial looks like it came straight out of the 1980s and feels like it was shot and edited by someone from the local high school. The commercial starts with Mitchell introducing himself in front of the dealership with a terrible graphic popping up referring to him as “local American mixed martial artist.”
It only gets better from there. Mitchell proclaims, “They paid me to be here. These ain’t my cars. I don’t really care about them.” Mitchell then walks up to a Corvette, instead of taking it for a test drive, he kicks in the passenger side window and then starts punching an inflatable tube person.
The commercial moves to Mitchell standing in the middle of the car lot. “They’ve got the number one inventory in the state,” said Mitchell, who is accompanied by another terrible graphic. Someone off of camera corrects Mitchell, who then says “well nevermind but there is a lot of cars here.” The cheesy graphics pop in again. The same gag is repeated with prices, with Mitchell correcting himself saying, “we can still get you a hell of a deal.”
Mitchell starts shadow boxing when an explosion graphic goes off. The next shot sees Mitchell sitting in a car with someone outside of the car smoking. “Can’t even tell these rigs have been smoked in,” says Mitchell who proceeds to spray something to cover up the cigarette smoke. The voiceover guy simply says “smells good,” as we move to more of Mitchell shadow boxing.
The next scene has a shirtless Mitchell firing a gun at the windows of an SVU. It only gets better from there.
“When I ripped my testicles open with a drill, I had to drive myself to the hospital in my pickup truck. I really wish I would have had this Corvette. I would have made it on time. The commercial ends with Mitchell pitching the dealership while standing in the back of a pickup truck. The camera then zooms out and has several more of the terrible explosion graphics and sound effects.
