Heartbreaking news has arrived for the Minnesota Vikings and Dalvin Cook, as the running back’s father has passed away.
A tragic update has come in for the Minnesota Vikings, as it has been reported on Wednesday morning that the father of star running back Dalvin Cook has passed away. Indeed, Cook’s father has died and he was just 46 years old.
Cook learned of his father’s passing and immediately left the team to board a plane for Miami to be with his family. The standout running back won’t return in time for Minnesota’s regular-season finale against the Detroit Lions.
#Vikings RB Dalvin Cook has returned home to Miami after his father, James, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday.
Cook wanted to finish out an All-Pro caliber season, but felt it was best to be back home with his younger siblings. He won't play Sunday against the #Lions.

Dalvin Cook will miss Sunday’s game against the Lions after his father passed away
As of this writing, no official cause of death had been released. To make things even more heartbreaking for the family, Cook’s dad was only 46, losing his life at such a young age.
He had been enjoying watching his son have another fantastic campaign for the Vikings. Thus far this season, Cook has rushed for 1,557 yards and 16 touchdowns. He’s second in the NFL with his yards and tied for first with his rushing scores.
A former second-round pick, Cook has solidified himself as one of the best running backs in the game this season. Time and again, he breaks free from would-be tacklers and puts on a show running all over the field. He’s been a consistent force for the Minnesota offense.
Unfortunately, he and his family have received the tough news of his father’s passing down in Florida. He wanted to end things on a high note this season for the Vikes, but understandably has chosen to be with his family during this difficult time.
