With rumors circulating Urban Meyer could end up taking the Jaguars job, will he move to take Ohio State signal-caller Justin Fields with the No. 1 pick?
Now that Doug Marrone has officially been fired by the Jacksonville Jaguars, things are really about to get interesting for the AFC South team. Several names have been floated around to take over as head coach, but none are more intriguing than Urban Meyer.
A superstar in the college ranks, Meyer could be ready to come out of retirement and head to the NFL. If he does, will he end up looking at Ohio State to help him get the franchise back on track? If Meyer does take the job, it sure would be something if he ended up using the No. 1 pick on Justin Fields instead of Trevor Lawrence.
Urban Meyer drafting Justin Fields if he takes the Jaguars job would be awesome
For a while now, the expectation was that whoever landed the No. 1 overall pick would waste no time in having Roger Goodell announce they’ve selected Lawrence. However, Fields is in the middle of an incredible campaign and has Ohio State all set to take on Alabama in the national title game next week.
In the semifinals, Fields outclassed Lawrence and powered the Buckeyes to a dominant 49-28 victory. In that win, Fields threw for 385 yards and six touchdowns, while also rushing for 42 yards. Fields is no question more dynamic than Lawrence, as his speed could hurt opposing defenses at the next level.
Next spring, it’ll either be Lawrence or Fields who gets taken with the No. 1 overall pick. If Meyer does end up taking over in Jacksonville, we very well may end up seeing two former Buckeyes reunited. That sure would be special to see for OSU fans.
