Indianapolis Colts wide Michael Pittman Jr. is not interested in giving up his No. 11 jersey to newcomer quarterback Carson Wentz.
It does not seem that Carson Wentz will be wearing No. 11 with the Indianapolis Colts, as that jersey number belongs to Michael Pittman Jr.
The former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback has worn No. 11 since his days at North Dakota State. However, the 23-year-old wide receiver told TMZ Sports that he has no plans on giving up his number to his new teammate. “I am number 11. I don’t think there’s any deal that is gonna be done.” How should Wentz feel about this? Isn’t a new number in a new city the best thing for him?
Michael Pittman Jr. cannot wait to get to work with Carson Wentz on the field
“Yeah, so I spoke to [Carson] and he was just seeing how locked in I was to #11, and I told him I was locked in — and he was like, ‘That’s cool, bro, because I’m probably gonna switch anyway.’”
“He asked me very respectfully and I just appreciated him for that. I think he’s a great dude, because lots of guys with his status, they would come in and demand and stuff like that.”
“He’s just a super chill guy and I cant wait to get with him and start throwing and stuff.”
Look, No. 11 is an awesome number. I wore it growing up, so I get why Pittman and Wentz are fond of it, too. However, Wentz just needs to turn the page and find a new number that suits him in Indianapolis. He has a clean break to become a franchise quarterback once again. No matter what jersey he chooses to play in for the Colts, he has to perform better than he did a season ago.
Wentz will be throwing to a receiver wearing No. 11 instead of wearing it himself with the Colts.
