Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill makes a lot of money, but not enough to dole out free tips for bad service.
Hill is guaranteed over $12 million in 2021. I just thought I’d get that down on paper before dissecting this argument.
The veteran wide receiver was ousted on Twitter for giving no tip at a restaurant. One member of the wait staff who recognized him was not happy. Rather than hide from the allegation, Hill came forward and explained the situation first-hand, rather than letting it circulate on social media.
I let my girl do all that , trust me if did a good job she would of tipped you https://t.co/m4w90iABsS

Hill has deflected the blame elsewhere, for now. Unfortunately for Tyreek, now he has to deal with his girlfriend, who can’t be happy he just brought unnecessary criticism her way to his 608,000+ Twitter followers.
Chiefs: Tyreek Hill has some explaining to do about this lack of tip
Is it ever acceptable not to tip? This also begs the question: How bad was the service that Hill and his significant other opted not to leave any gratuity?
A customer should expect some standard of service, but for Hill not to tip in this economic environment suggests truly terrible service. Restaurant staff have been struggling all year long during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially with limited customers. Now that things are beginning to open up again ever so slightly, it provides a beacon of hope for those who rely on that business.
Hill likely didn’t mean for this to go viral — or to come off as petty — but it’s not a great look given the economic hardships we’re currently living through.
