Chelsea face Porto at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday, April 13. Here’s all the info you need to watch this Champions League match.
The second leg of the Champions League quarterfinal takes place on Tuesday at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea host Porto. The Blues enter the second leg with the biggest lead of any club in the quarterfinal after winning 2-0 in Portugal. Porto will need an incredible performance if they are going to come from behind and pull off the upset.
Chelsea’s decision to fire Frank Lampard and replace him with Thomas Tuchel is looking like one of the best decisions of the season. Under Tuchel, the Blues have lost only one game and are closing in on a top-four spot in the Premier League and a spot in the Champions League semifinal. In the first leg, the Blues outclassed Porto. The late goal from Ben Chilwell gives Chelsea a mass advantage going into the second leg. Tuchel can now opt to be conservative and defend or he can use the same game plan he did in the first leg.
Porto will need a miracle if they are going to knock out another European giant. After knocking out Juventus in the last round, the Dragons will likely need to score at least three goals if they are going to advance to the semifinal. Porto were without two of their best players in the first leg. Sergio Oliveira missed the game with an injury while Mehdi Taremi was suspended. Both players are eligible to return but the Dragons have said they will be cautious with Oliveira. If Oliveira and Taremi both play, it will give Porto a chance. Oliveira and Taremi have combined for 35 goals and 20 assists. However, if either player misses the second leg, it will be almost impossible for Porto to come back.
