The Atlanta Braves will play their first game without Ronald Acuña Jr. this season.
Acuña first injured himself diving back to the first base bag on a pickoff attempt in Sunday Night Baseball‘s win over the Chicago Cubs. While he would play out the rest of the frame for the Braves, including scoring a run in an impressive ninth game in a row, he was removed from the game after sliding head first into home. Even if he is not on the IL, it does not feel like he is playing.
Here is what the Braves will be trotting out their in their first game of their series vs. the Yankees.

Leading off and playing right field instead of Acuña will be Ehire Adrianza. Then, it gets a little more normal for the next few hitters with first baseman Freddie Freeman batting second, left fielder Marcell Ozuna hitting third, catcher Travis d’Arnaud batting cleanup and second baseman Ozzie Albies hitting fifth. The Kung Fu Panda Pablo Sandoval is the designated hitter and hits sixth.
Shortstop Dansby Swanson moves down to seventh and third baseman Austin Riley moves down a spot as well to hit eighth. Manning the No. 9 hole will be center fielder Guillermo Heredia. Since this game will be played in an American League park, Charlie Morton will get the start on the mound and won’t have to pop up bunts to the pitcher for the rest of Braves Country’s enjoyment.
Though Acuña has not been ruled out for the game, it does not feel like he is going to play tonight.
