Minnesota Twins fan favorite Willians Astudillo dealt an impressive 1-2-3 inning off the mound in Friday’s game against the Los Angeles Angels.
The Minnesota Twins did not have a great time in Anaheim on Friday night. Despite the team being down 4-3 to the Los Angeles Angels in the bottom of the seventh inning, the wheels fell off for the Twins, as they surrendered six runs in the inning. With the Twins down big late in the game, that could only mean that fans would be treated to a position player taking the pitcher’s mound.
In the bottom of the eighth, Twins utility man and fan favorite Willians Astudillo pitched for the team and actually threw a one-two-three inning on only seven pitches!

Twins: Willians Astudillo’s 1-2-3 inning the highlight of a bad game for Minnesota
In his short inning of work, Astudillo got Angels catcher Kurt Suzuki to line out on two pitches, third baseman Luis Rengifo to ground out on four pitches and David Fletcher to line out on one pitch. Fun fact: Every one of those outs was hit directly to Twins third baseman Josh Donaldson.
Astudillo mostly threw eephus pitches off the mound that were measured at sub-50-mph. However, the infielder did unleash a 72.5-mph changeup when pitching against Rengifo.
While the game did not go the way Twins fans would have liked, they did get to see Astudillo pitch and exit the game with a 0.00 ERA. That is a win in our books.
