One bettor felt really good about Ohio State prior to the CFP National Championship Game and it cost him dearly.
The CFP National Championship is a virtual holiday for college football fans who like to engage in legal sports betting. With the No. 1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide facing the No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes, some felt the contest was going to be a back-and-forth affair. One individual felt mighty confident about the underdog Buckeyes and it cost him dearly.
According to BetMGM in Las Vegas, one bettor placed $500,000 on the Buckeyes winning outright against the Crimson Tide. That’s right, they didn’t bet to cover the spread. Only a straight-up win, which would’ve paid them $1.3 million!

A bet that turned out to be a massive gamble
In the first 25 minutes, it looked as though the Buckeyes were going to put up a fight against Alabama, as they only trailed 21-14 in the second quarter. However, the Crimson Tide pulled away before halftime with a field goal and two touchdown receptions from star wide receiver DeVonta Smith.
It was a rout after that.
We admire the individual for their intestinal fortitude, but the gamble turned out to be too huge of a risk.
