The NBA announced on Tuesday (February 23) that the 24-year-old “Scars to Your Beautiful” singer and the 76-year-old Empress of Soul will both be performing at the basketball event next month.
Gladys, who graduated from Shaw University, which is one of the oldest HBCUs (historically black colleges and universities) in the nation, will sing the U.S. national anthem ahead of the All-Star Game live from State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.
Canadian-born Alessia will be singing the Canadian national anthem remotely from her home in Toronto, Canada.
A few years ago, Gladys performed the U.S. national anthem at another major sporting event.
