Wide receiver Jaylen Waddle will be a true game-time decision for Alabama in the CFP Championship Game.
The Alabama Crimson Tide are playing in their fifth CFP Championship Game in the game’s eight-year existence. Plenty of credit can be given to Alabama’s explosive offense consisting of quarterback Mac Jones, wide receiver and Heisman Trophy winner DeVonta Smith, and running back Najee Harris. But then, you remember they reached this point without wideout Jaylen Waddle, who suffered a fractured ankle back on Oct. 24.
There has been buzz about Waddle playing in what could be his final game of his collegiate career, but nothing was confirmed. Now, we have a glimpse as to what the plan is hours away from the big game.
According to Matt Zenitz of AL.com, it’s likely that Waddle will play against the Ohio State Buckeyes on Monday night, but they’ll make a final determination following pre-game warmups. Waddle, his family and Alabama’s coaching staff will make the decision.
Will Waddle suit up on Monday night?
Waddle only managed to play in four games this season, but suffered what was believed to have been a season-ending ankle injury during Alabama’s contest against Tennessee. But, Waddle returned to practice this last week.
In his limited playing time, Waddle managed to record 25 receptions for 557 yards and four touchdowns.
Alabama will certain welcome Waddle’s return to the field, especially in their biggest game of the season. But, you’ll have to keep an eye on any updates just minutes before the contest’s 8:00 p.m. ET kickoff to receive a final answer.
