The Pittsburgh Steelers are completely melting down, and that could force them to make changes in 2021.
The Pittsburgh Steelers went from favorites in the AFC after their 11-0 start to once of the coldest teams in the league. They lost three consecutive games amid a putrid stretch from a quarterback Ben in Roethlisberger who is, in his own words, playing “like poo” of late.
While they might be headed to the postseason, Pittsburgh will likely need to make some sweeping changes if they want to remain contenders, starting with these three individuals.
Steelers Rumors: 3 players and coaches who won’t be back in 2021
JuJu is a solid slot receiver, but the departure of Antonio Brown was finally put in motion, in part, because the Steelers believed that the former USC star would be able to take over as the No. 1 receiver. He hasn’t received Terry Bradshaw-esque quarterback play over the last two seasons, but JuJu’s 1,426-yard season in 2018 looks more like an outlier than an indicator of what he is, as he has fewer receiving yards in 2019 and 2020 combined than he did in that breakout season. The Steelers also have to consider the financial implications involved with bringing him back, as he is an impending free agent who could be looking to cash in.
The TikTok stuff might not affect his play on the field, but the optics aren’t the greatest, especially when the Steelers are barely able to manage anything on the offensive side of the ball. Considering the declining performance, impending free agency, and depth the Steelers have behind him in the likes of Diontae Johnson, James Washington, and rookie sensation Chase Claypool, every negative Steelers result makes the possibility of JuJu returning to Pittsburgh less likely.
